Mine for some reason avoid the stove. Ambercat will walk across it occasionally to get to the other side of the counter, but it isn't a problem. The only thing I can think of is a squirt bottle or small Super Soaker, and a squirt and loud "NO!!!" when he goes up there and you catch him. It still might not work in the end though. Depends on the cat.
