A couple of days ago, I smelled something burning in the house. After searching, I found one of the burners on the range turned to 1/2 on an empty pot.
I've been having lots of problems training Ambercat to stay off of the stove. Now, he's figured out that bumping the dials is lots of fun, so I've had to remove all the range top dials, for the risk of having the house burn down...

That was a good strategy ! I am glad that the vet visit this year is history now and that Mikesch, Storm and you are fine. ;) They both don't look so unhappy in this carrier.

Well, Doerscheln, you were right! It was a little easier this year to get Mikesch into the carrier. I put it in the bathroom and closed every other door in the house, but he wouldn't go in there. But he went into the wooden cat hide away in the living room, and I just reached in and scruffed him. He hissed but didn't panic or scratch or bite at me. He's bigger than Storm now -- 11.6 pounds, Storm is 10.6 pounds.

I hope Mikesch's and Storm's vet visit will go well tomorrow. Maybe Mikesch will jump into the carrier all by himself ! ;) No, I know it will be a bit difficult. Do you try to lift him from time to time for a few seconds ? It worked with Paulinchen (she was a feral farm cat) I picked her up for a moment, gave her a kiss and let her run again. It took a few months but then she liked it.
