Greta, dear friend, while I'm looking at this touching picture I can see, in your eyes an unlimited love and hope and a big a sense of security in THOMAS eyes, in your arms...and my eyes are full of tears....Hugs

My Buldi was once ailed by cat flu, he received some shots over several days. Problem was, he got awfully constipated b/c of the flu, could not eat anything, until he got an enema done to him. Maybe it's worth to check if Thomas is constipated or not?

Place this in the room with the cat, but not where the cat might drink it! Alternatively, put a few drops of Olbas Oil or eucalyptus oil on some cotton wool, and place in the room with the cat. Avoid direct contact, as it may be an irritant. A small amount of Vicks VapoRub can be applied to the chin. Do not give any other human medicines to your cat – cats are not small humans and many of our home remedies are toxic to them.
Teocato 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
Steam inhalations help to loosen catarrh, so let the cat in the bathroom when you have a bath or shower, or offer inhalations of Olbas Oil by putting a few drops of oil in a container of warm water.
Teocato 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
Encourage your cat to drink, as fluids help to loosen thick catarrhal secretions. Wipe away discharges from the nose and eyes regularly using salt water (a teaspoonful of salt to a pint of water).

YOU KNOW THE PROCESSED HAM IN SLICES... WELL I HAVE SEEN CATS EAT THIS WHEN THEY ARE UNWELL. I WOULD TRY ANY THING EVEN THE CORNFLAKES.... BLESS HIM HE MUST BE FED UP. ANY NEWS ON WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM.
PAWDI 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
GRETA DONT WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT HIM NOT EATING. HE WILL BE OK ON THE DRIP FOR NOW. GET THE SCIENCE PLAN RECOVERY FOOD. ITS CONCENTRATED AND HE ONLY NEEDS A SMALL BIT TO KEEP HIM GOING. MOST SICK CATS WILL EAT THIS IF ITS WARM AND IF YOU ENCOURAGE HIM TO EAT IT.
MackemCat 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
Hi Taffy, I will take some tuna in with me with the chicken...His favourite is to share my cornflakes but I don't think the vet would be too impressed. I'm not sure he would appreciate me eating my breakfast in the surgery. Thomas is always there at breakfast time usually with Tabitha waiting for the last drops of milk.....xxxxx
Teocato 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
What did the vet suggest???? Usually something very stinky to eat, like tuna, will make them interested.....but he is on a drip which is making him very comfortable just by being hydrated.....
MackemCat 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
What a good idea...I hadn't thought of that...He has a little pink bowl that he likes.......
agroshong 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
hmmm..something familiar to him....his bowl....his food...something that would make him comfortable and tempted to eat
MackemCat 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
Thomas is still at the vets. He won't eat and is still on the drip. I can visit tomorrow.....What can I take for my boy that he might be tempted to eat?........
MackemCat 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag

I have phoned the vets and Thomas is in his cage on the drip and is very quiet but I think this must be the anaesthetic wearing off. I hope tomorrow brings good news. Your prayers have helped me cope through this worrying time....xxxxxxx

Hello Sirminzi, Lovely to hear from you. Thomas has had a problem with vomiting for many years. The original vet said it was megaesophagus and nothing could be done. This vet told me today that Thomas has never had the condition. Very worrying. I hope your daughter's cat is in good health now. It's so awful when any of them are ill. Lots of love...Greta & the cats...xxxx
Sirminzi 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
Greta - Mum, it´s good to hear that his blood is fine. The most of dangerous diseases(kidney, liver, diabetic and m.m.) is to bee seen in the blood. What has been Thomas primarily problem? Did he sick (in terms of emetic) oftener? Our daughters cat (9 y.) sicks since 4 years 2x annually, with blood. She gives her tea and always a little bit meal. The vets have found nothing!
Teocato 14.03.2011 00:32 | Flag
Oh my, we are still in the dark as to what's wrong with the baby.......Please God, give the vet wisdom and insight for our Thomas' case...........Kisses to you and Thomas..................Dec. 12, 2008, at 6:51 a.m. in Utah, USA

Emma, one of the vets has just rung. Thomas has no stomach ulcers or anything untoward. His bloods are fine, His heart is ok, his xray is fine and his megaesophagus has been misdiagnosed. He is still asleep and they are going to wake him. They say there is thickening of the bowel wall but that is not uncommon. The only other thing that they can do is a biopsy of his bowel but are reluctant to do that at this stage. Too much risk, only last resort procedure.....

Friday morning 9.30 am. Vets have just rang. Thomas has been sick again during the night. They have given him anti-emetic drugs and they are going to have to do an xray and put a camera down his throat under a general anaesthetic. I am so frightened for him....please pray for him.......
