They secrete a poison to protect themselves. It won't hurt the cat, but it makes them gag if they try to pick one up in their mouths. Most cats just know not to try it. Robocat did pick one up in his mouth once, and never did it again!

What do you guys mean? Why will they be sorry? Do toads have some protection? And how could the toad be lucky?? I hope the toad survives.
