I think the mom was sort of a patchwork, maybe calico. I'm sure mom was abandoned so the kits aren't true ferals, they've just grown up outside and never interacted with people, so they tame down quickly when they realize they can manipulate the creatures with the opposable thumbs.

He's already starting to calm down. He's acting just like his brother did in fact. In a week's time he'll pretty much be acting like he owns the place I predict.

He's back in. Like his brother, no hissing or swatting, he just bunches up. I put on the welder's gloves and scruffed him and that was that.

Just baited the trap and set it up at the road. Maybe I can get Mom tonite and be done with it. Overnight temps are very warm, so I can leave the trap un-attended, but that will change soon. Hopefully Mom has been staying at the bottom of the hill near the road too.

Caught!!!! I went down to the road to check the trap at 12:30AM, and lo, it was closed. Look what I found inside! This is just a little while ago, after bringing the trap into the garage, where Baby spent his first few nights before taking over the place. This one looks like another boy to me, and he's balck/white instead of grey/white. I brought Baby down just before snapping this pic and this one visibly calmed down just a smidgen. Baby tensed up just a smidgen. Looks a little road worn. I'm glad I got him, once the NH winter set in it would have been grim.

Cat names are real serious business! You don't just go and name them anything. It could take a long time before his name comes to me, or he tells me it!

My driveway alarm went off last night at about 1:30AM, and when I went down to investigate I got there just in time to make out a small grey and white form melting into the bushes. So I'm moving the trap down there. The kitten seems to be staying low on the hill near the road, for about a 1/4-1/2 mile length.

Floppy's fine with other cats that are fine with him. There was one rescue (the little tiger in my strays folder) that would very quietly growl at him, so softly you couldn't hear him, in order to get Floppy to attack him to get me mad at Floppy. Floppy didn't tolerate him at all.

I saw his sibling 2 nights in a row coming home at about 1AM, in the EXACT same spot, just finishing crossing the street and trotting uphill into the woods, about 1/4 mile from here. I've left the trap wired open and nothing's touched the food so I don't think he/she's been in the yard.

So sad to hear this news about Willi. It's the part of our relationship with them that we have to pay the price through for all they give us. I'm so glad he's still happy though. My prayers to this sweet guy.
