Salem will have a tough recovery ahead of him. He has a bad limp, but he weighs 15 pounds and the vet said he has to slim up some or his hip will always give him problems. He is just a big solid cat. You can't tell from this picture.

By the way the vet still has no idea how it happened. He only goes outside sometimes during the day. He thinks he maybe jumped or fell off our fence out back. It's a mystery. But he's on a diet. No more 15 pound kitty, bad for the hip. :-(

Thank you so much for the sweet thoughts. Only cat lovers can understand. He came home last night and should recover. They removed all the bone fragments and he is supposed to be off his feet for at least 3 weeks. We have him secluded in one of the girls' rooms with fluffy blankets, food and water. He just lays there and purrs a lot. He is hurting, but happy to be home. Thanks again! I'll post a picture when he's better. Kathy

I took Salem to the vet yesterday because he was limping. They couldn't find out what was wrong with him until they did an x-ray. He broke his hip. They have no idea how. He will be having surgery on Sunday, 2-3 to remove bone fragment. I can't believe I did not notice this before. He has just been laying around a little bit more than usual, but nothing else. Pray for Salem. He was very stressed and they were having trouble getting him calmed down when we left him yesterday.

We have a Salem as well. He is 18 months old and weighs about 15 to 16 pounds, he is a monster, but a sweet baby too. They look just alike.
