And, at this point, the vet doesn't seem too concerned about the internal leak, so hopefully I'll get an update on that later today when I visit him.

The vet texted me this right before they closed and tucked Ambercat in for the night. This is apparently after his "bath" they give him daily to clean off the mess from the catheter, and he has his collar on for the night. Not too happy here! Vet said he's doing fine. Bringing him some of his food tomorrow along with another toy and a blanket they all sleep on.

He just said that that particular food -- the Blue Buffalo dry grain-free, is the most associated of any dry food with this problem. He didn't elaborate if it was just in his practice and experience, or if this has been substantiated by a bigger study. The irony is that I bought this 2 months ago because the Taste of the Wild dry grain free was giving Storm some urinary problems. None of the other cats have had problems with the Blue Buffalo. And, all my cats have had UTI's at one point or another over the years. This is the first full-blown blockage I've had.

Did the vet say there was a problem with the brand Blue Buffalo or was it the fact that he was eating dry food? Just wondering since I have been using the Blue Buffalo.

I just saw your message today about his situation. I hope he is completely well soon. Sorry to hear this happened. I have been feeding my cats the Blue Buffalo dry food along with Wellness wet food. I went down to the pet store today and got Wellness dry food and I'm taking the remainder of my Blue Buffalo back. I'm glad I saw your message.

I went to visit him this morning. He's doing fine. He was depressed when I walked in, but cheered right up when he saw me, so he knows he's not abandoned. I had to leave after about 15 minutes because he was quickly "spooling up", even on the narcotics they have him on. He should be home in a few days. They're just waiting for his kidney levels to come back down.

I believe that Ambercat will be fine and home soon again . 20 years of experience with cats and cat diseases have taught me that they are tough and strong creatures and that they heal very fast. Please give Ambercat a big kiss from me when you visit him today.

To clarify, his bladder is fine. No issues except for the blockage. But, he has a pinhole leak in this urethra in a point that's inaccessible, which was apparently caused by the blockage, and allowed some urine to get into his abdominal cavity, which is why they opened him up. The strategy now is to leave a catheter in just past the point where the pinhole is, so that hopefully the hole will heal closed. He was fine last night -- this pic was taken at about 8PM. He was asleep by the stove, and woke up at 11 PM and just started going to the litter box continuously. There was absolutely nothing at all about his behavior to suggest anything was out of the ordinary.

I can't believe how quiet it is without him literally bouncing off the walls. I'll post an update tomorrow when I go there to visit him. I called in sick tonite, no way I could go in, and leave the others alone.

I hope Ambercat mends successfully at the vets and comes home soon! Yes, you get better young man, your brothers miss you, not to mention daddy!
