Thanks everyone. It wasn't a blow like Daisy or Robocat. He's been in decline for a year or so. I remember this time last year wondering if he was going to be around in a year. The cancer was a big surprise, but I expected something to get him soon. The big thing is that it wasn't just the loss of one cat, it was the close of entire chapter that include his brothers and Daisy. And, this orange nutcase has me dying of laughter today...

Floppy was laid out in his bed in the living room overnight. They all came out one by one and sniffed him, and that was that. Mikesch spent the most time with him, and sniffed him very thoroughly. They're doing fine.

It was alot of years, cat or human. I moved a whole lot better 18 years ago, lol! At least we got to get creaky together, although he had me beat by a fair amount. I calculated it out once and figured me, him and his brothers were the same age for a little while in like 2005. This last group of cat (which are the last) are well matched to me. Males in my family don't go much beyond 65-70. I'm 55, and Ambercat is 3 in August, and the Feral Brothers are 5 in about July. Good timing.

I sadly have to report that I had to let my beloved, dear Floppy go to peace last night, on the 23rd. He was doing remarkably good, then suddenly, after the last picture was taken, he went completely blind and his mind seemed to be following. Looking back on things that happened over the last year, I now believe he did not have a tumor that originated in the mouth. I think that was the last place it spread, when it finally showed itself. I believe he had a brain tumor and it spread down to his palate. A great team came here from a not so local vet clinic with very little notice at 10PM, and he had a peaceful transition in his bed in his home. He was special beyond any ability to convey, and will always be a huge presence in my heart.

Yes, this was yesterday. Sill holding the course, no changes noted good or bad. He is a little wobbly on his feet, but that's probably the arthritis. Sleep, eat, groom, walk around a little, use the litterbox......

cynthia - my Italian grandmother made that quilt as a Christmas present to my parents over 40 years ago. doerscheln - Yes, I've been amazed at how shiny his coat is still. You reminded me of the thyroid meds. I'd taken him off him, because, what was the point? But I've put him back on them tonite. Also, he gave me a scare that was lifted a few minutes ago. I took that picture after he'd been up on the bed about 8 hours. And that was about 20 hours ago. He was in that spot, doing very little, all that time. I had to bring him food and water, and thought this was about it, although he was in good spirits and pretty happy. Well, I just turned around afew minutes ago and he was at the water fountain in the kitchen taking a drink. Then he went downstairs and pooped in his usual spot under the oil tank after peeing in the litter box, then came back upstairs and had 1/2 a can of food. He's just milling around now. And yes, Moritz and Floppy are tied together. Don't know if you've noticed the pattern, but you'll see that everytime you've lost a cat, I lose one soon after. Please get a hamster! Just kidding!!! But when Moritz went, I was pretty sure Floppy was up next, though he's been showing the signs for over a year now.

Floppy doing fine tonite, 2/17/18. Gingerly daring to say maybe better than a couple weeks ago. Good appetite, grooming himself, which he's doing here, and in good spirits, no apparent pain. No more drooling or running eyes. The only concerning thing is he's eating lots of food, but I can feel his ribs and backbone. Not alarming in itself considering his old age. He's doing pretty good.....

He made it. But, all he had to do was go over to the kitchen table to the left out of scene, and then it would've been a simple hop from 3 feet horizontal to the top of the cabinet. But no.....
