Oh no! The second he's spooked, he runs right back into the house. And, since I let him outside, that really tamed him just about all the way. I can walk right up to him now and he enjoys being pet. I can even pick him up for a few seconds. He squirms but doesn't panic.

As an experiment, I put the unused memory foam mattress from under the bed where this one is, and moved this one next to it. This morning, they were in this bed.

That's very accurate. The adults have been perfect with the kittens. They are continuously holding back and let them have the upper hand. I've never seen them swat at the kittens, even when they deserve it!

Even I screw up sometimes when sorting their names on here! When I first rescued them, as chipmunk sized kittens, Floppy was the first one I rescued, and I knew I was keeping him forever. Then when I rescued the others, I put him in the pile and almost lost which one he was. I ended up putting a white tie wrap around an arm so I knew which one he was!

I let him out. I finished the top overhangs on the deck fence, but looks like they're not needed. And this ended up being another breakthrough. Tonite he's acting very tame. He's letting me pet him, and he flipped on his back a few times and played with my fingers like a real kitten!

This is as far outside as he got before running back inside. I dumped the chair over just in case he panicked so he couldn't use it to jump off of. I think he MIGHT be able to make the roof if he really wanted to.

After all my anxiety, it ended up for nothing. It took him 2 hours to cross the threshold with the door wide open, and then when something spooked hi, he ran right back into the house. He's spent 7 months of his 9 months (estimated) in the house, so this is definitely his home!
