I know what you mean. Reminds me very much of my Minka. It was a Sunday morning, we got up, she played with a ball, had breakfast and went into my bed. When I walked into the bedroom 30 minutes later she was dead. Of course it was a shock for me but it was the best way for a cat to go over the rainbowbridge, probably a cardiac infarction, there was no sign that she was sick before. I don't know how old Minka was when she passed but she lived with me 14 years and was a grown up cat when she was found in a neighbor's garden together with 6 kittens.

Don't feel bad for Chloe. She won big time! She found the perfect home to be the only cat in for the rest of her life. She lived to be almost 18 in great health, had a decline that lasted two days, and passed in the lap of her devoted guardian in no pain or distress at all! I call than a BIG win!!
