I have been thinking about all the poor ferals out there with the terrible cold you had in the USA. Some may have had some sort of shelter, but most of them not and I only hope the Mom and brother of Storm and Mikesch did make it through the week.
doerscheln says:
Oh no, what a bad timing :( but the boy was healthy and fixed and when there is really someone feeding the cats he has a good chance to get through this winter.
tele_mark says:
I'll begin trapping again just as soon as spring arrives. Hopefully I'll get those two. The really sad part is that I released the feral cat because no rescue groups were able to help, then a DAY after I released him, one answered and said they found someone to foster him. ;-(
doerscheln says:
Yes I understand , all the misery feral cats have deal with, cold, illness, hunger...... we try to help but we cant save them all. I hope Storm's and Mikesch's family will be alright as well.
tele_mark says:
They're fine, but I almost want to cry when i think of their mother, who disappeared before I caught Mikesch, and the cat that might've been their older brother who I had to release. I did see paw prints about a week ago in the snow, so hopefully they're ok.
doerscheln says:
I am very happy for you and Mikesch ! Maybe he will become the tamest cat in the world. :) Actually it sounds like he wants to get closer but he doesn't dare yet. And I am glad that these two have a warm and cosy home now when I think of the temperatures you had.......
tele_mark says:
If I lie on the floor, I can now coax Mikesh to within a foot of me with he laser pointer or string, but he bolts if I try to touch him. Also, last night I brought a bowl of cottage cheese into the bedroom to snack on in front of the computer. I looked up and he had followed me into the room and was sitting 2 feet away staring at me begging style, but again bolted when I made a move towards him with the bowl. Still improving everyday though.
